Cherry Fest
The Jacksonport Historical Society’s 32nd Annual Cherry Fest will take place Saturday, August 1
at Lakeside Park beginning at 9 am. Music, food, arts, crafts, and a car show will fill the day on the beautiful Lake Michigan lakefront. Enjoy everything cherry; homemade cherry kolaches, cherry pie, cherry sundaes, cherry brats, cherry jams, pie filling, and other cherry products. The Jacksonport Women’s Club will host a bake sale, sell deep-fried cheese curds and have a used books, puzzles, and games sale.
The juried arts and crafts fair begins at 9 am, featuring talented artists and craftsmen from the Midwest. The Herb Mueller Memorial Car Show will take place at the Erskine Rest Area on the corner of County V and Highway 57. Car Show participants’ on-site registration is only $10 and it’s free to the public to attend. A People’s Choice award will be presented at 2 pm.
Have a seat at a picnic table in the park or bring blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy country music from 10:30-3:30 by the Modern Day Drifters. There’s fun for the kids with face painting and the Lakeside Park playground. There will be a children’s penny hunt at the playground at 1 pm. Registration for the penny hunt begins at 12:30 for two age categories: ages 3-5 and 6-8.
Visit the Erskine Root Cellar by the Car Show. The 1880s cellar is only open twice a year, so don’t miss this step back into time event. The Jacksonport Historical Society will be on hand to share the history. Admission is free and a variety of Jacksonport historical books will be available to purchase.
Jacksonport is just a few miles north of Sturgeon Bay on Highway 57 in Door County and parking is free. Learn more about Cherry Fest at jacksonporthistoricalsociety.org or find them on Facebook.
